Charles Wayne Allen, 80, of Columbus, GA died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Canterbury Healthcare Facility in Phenix City, AL.

Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 21, 2010 at Riverdale Cemetery with Reverend Clarence Gallops officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 5 to 7 p.m. at McMullen Funeral Home 3874 Gentian Blvd. Columbus, GA 31907.

Mr. Allen was born November 11, 1929 in Columbus, GA son of the late Dan Willie Allen and Lydia Mae Pippins Allen. He served in the U.S. Army and was a military policeman for two years.

He was the owner and operator of Warm Springs Hardware Store and was a member of Beallwood Baptist Church. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Eloise Askew Allen and his brother, Bennie Reginald Allen. Survivors include his children, Ray Allen (Linda) of Columbus, GA and Mark Allen (Diane) of LaGrange, GA sisters-in-law, Betty Jean Allen of Columbus, GA and Edna Hodge of Columbus, GA, nephew, Rick Allen of Columbus, GA, three grand- children, Ray Allen, Jr. of Columbus, GA, Stephanie Welch of Columbus, GA and Vicki Fincher of LaGrange, GA and five great grandchil- dren, Hunter Welch, Hayden Welch, Mackenzie Allen all of Columbus, GA, and Presly and Josie Fincher of LaGrange, GA.
