Patricia (Patsy) Hass Stoltz, 91, of Valier, Montana, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Logan Health Conrad. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 6 at the Valier United Methodist Church.

Patsy was born November 25, 1931 to Otto and Julie (Braun) Hass in Anamoose, North Dakota. She grew up in Anamoose and graduated from Anamoose High School in 1949, then attended Minot State Teacher's College (presently Minot State University). In 1952 Patsy was enticed by a school administrator to come to teach 6th Grade in Valier, Montana.

On December 22, 1954, she married the love of her life, Eugene (Gene) Stoltz. They raised two daughters Loretta (Lori) and Leslie and a son Jonathan (Jon). The family farmed north of Valier until the farming operation moved to Pendroy in the 90's.

Patsy loved flowers, painting, sewing, embroidery, cooking, playing Bridge, camping, skiing and golfing. She was a Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout leader, Sunday School teacher, member of several social clubs and Altar Guild member at the Valier Methodist Church. Patsy loved being outside in the yard, working in her greenhouse and garden. She grew miniature pumpkins for the kindergarten classes and arranged flowers, that she'd grown, for the church altar. Patsy enjoyed sitting around the backyard firepit with Gene and family.

Patsy loved reading and she was always searching for a new recipe to try out on her family. Her meals were never boring or repetitive. Patsy's lunches were the highlight of the farm workday. We opened our lunchboxes anticipating wonderful sandwiches, often made of freshly baked bread, salads, fresh garden vegetable, fruit and desserts. Of course, Gene was a little chagrined when he discovered that his son and son-in-law got twice the sandwiches that his lunchbox contained.

Patsy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She deeply loved and cared for all her family and her friends.

Patsy is survived by her three children, Lori (Bill) Powell of Perryton, TX, Leslie Stoltz of Richardson, TX and Jon (Lisa) Stoltz of Pendroy, MT; her sisters, Irene Hirsch and Ione Hass; her grandchildren, Sarah Tregellas of Perryton, TX, Kimberly Findley of Perryton, TX, Alexandra Stoltz of Pendroy, MT; her great-grandchildren, Charlotte Tregellas, George Tregellas and Evan Findley; several nephews, nieces and cousins. Those who preceded her in death include her parents; her husband, Gene; her brothers, LaVerne Hass, Kenneth Hass, James Hass; and great-grandson Johnathan Findley.

Memorials may be sent to Valier Public Library or Valier United Methodist Church.
