Charles D. Kane, 80 of 20 Prospect St., retired division manager for Texas Refinery Co., died Thursday afternoon, Dec 27, in the Kinney Nursing Home where he had been a resident for several months.
The funeral was held Saturday Dec 29, at 11 am at Burr-Green Funeral Home with Rev Thomas Moody, pastor, St. James Church officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Rossie.
Surviving are his wife Fern; four daughters, Carol, Watertown; Mrs. Roger (Katherine) Blackburn, Oswego, Mrs. Eric (Lorraine) Reed, Richville and Fern M. Rochester; three sons, Charles D. and James F., both of Liverpool and Michael D., Gouverneur; a step-son, Wilson C. Mallette, Dover Del; a niece and 17 grandchildren.
He was born at Rossie Aug 20, 1899, son of Charles D. and Mary Maloy Kane and attended local schools.
Very active in sports at Gouverneur high school he received an athletic scholarship to Syracuse University where he earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration.
Mr. Kane married Fern Mallette in Plessis May 23, 1941 with Rev. Charles Jones officiating.
He had worked as general manager of Standard Oil Co in Albany and was division manager for Texas Refinery Co for 25 years. In 1958 he was presented with an outstanding salesman award.
He had also worked as a sales man for the Thomas D. Murphy Co., manufacturer of advertising specialties.
Mr. Kane was a member of Gouverneur Elks Lodge 2035.
