FRANCES D. SIMANTEL, 85, a resident of the Cornelius community, died Thursday afternoon, November 17, 2011 at her home, surrounded by family and friends.
FRANCES DOLORES SIMANTEL was born June 4, 1926 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of the late Almon Richard and Francis (Ritman) Cole. She was raised and received her education in St. Paul, Minnesota, having attended John A. Johnson High School.
She was united in marriage to Harold V. Simantel on May 13, 1945 at Cornelius, Oregon, just six weeks after they met. Following their marriage they made their home in the Cornelius community. They celebrated 57 years of marriage before Harold�s passing in 2002.
She was a member of the Mt. Olive Luthern Church in Forest Grove, Oregon.
Among her special interests she enjoyed bowling, church activities, scrap booking and working on photos on her computer, she was also an accomplished artist. Friends and family brought her her greatest joy.
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Almon Richard Cole and Francis (Ritman) and her husband Harold Vernon Simantel on August 23, 2002. Also sisters; Elizabeth Cole and Beverly Bass.,
Survivors include her children; her two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and David Schafer of Camarillo, California, Rebecca and Brent Gayman of Hillsboro, Oregon.
Also surviving are her six grandchildren, Chad (April) & Brad Ranes, Crystal (Fred) Fortaleza, Mark (Kim), Joshua (Alicia) and Jessica Gayman, and 13 great grandchildren.
