Reuben Byler was the son of Christian and Eliza (Richards) Byler, Sr. Elizabeth "Eliza" (Atkins) Byler was his 1st wife. Elizabeth died July 13, 1863. Sarah "Sallie" Jane (Coleman) Byler was his 2nd wife. Sarah died February 23, 1906. Reuben was a blacksmith.

BYLER.--Reuben Byler was born December 24, 1829, at Morgan, Berks County, Pennsylvania, and died December 22, 1891, at his home in East Nantmeal, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Brother Byler was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for over forty years, served as trustee, steward, class-leader and Sunday-school superintendent; was leader of the choir at Goodwill Methodist Episcopal Church, of which he died an official member. He was a loyal Methodist, faithful to the means of grace and a liberal giver. His acquaintance with Philadelphia Conference was extensive. The young preachers for some years made their home at his house. He was a kind husband and father and a good and useful man. He died suddenly.
