Judy was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Vernon Mitchell.
She is survived by sons, Jerry of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Kevin of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and sisters, Diane McFarland of Chandler, Arizona, Mary Morris of Valley Center, Kansas, and Georgianna Dolecek and brother-in-law, Bruce, of Derby, Kansas. Also, several nieces, nephews and grandchildren.
In earlier years, Judy lived in Hutchinson, Kansas and ran Melody Acres, her campground, as well as working tirelessly as an advocate for abused children, (at Caring and Sharing Grandparents, a group she and her friends, Dixie and Martha developed) successfully working within the courts to provide safety and security for many children in and around Reno County.
A graveside service will be held at Buhler Municipal Cemetery West at 10 a.m., Friday, November 10, 2023. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in care of Buhler Mortuary, PO Box 589, Buhler, KS 67522.
