Born in Hazleton, October 5, 1945, he was the son of the late Frank and Grace (Welsh) Babula and spent most of his life in West Hazleton.
Ronald was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, having served from 1967-1969, and was a member of the West Hazleton VFW. He was a retired Auto Mechanic. He began his career working for Kress Auto Recyclers, West Hazleton, he was the proprietor of Ron's Texaco, West Hazleton during the late 1970's and early 1980's and he ended his career at Feussner Ford, Freeland. He was a member of the Pulaski Club, West Hazleton. He was a Race Car Driver of the 98X Late Model, also known as the "Kress Express" at Big Diamond Raceway, from the 1970's through 1984. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt, Sr. fan, and also enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a son David Matthew Babula, who passed away December 14, 2004; and three brothers Lawrence, Frank Jr. and James Babula.
Surviving are his wife of the past 52 years, the former JoAnne Nussbaum; two sons Ronald Babula, Jr., Drums; and Richard Babula, West Hazleton; a granddaughter Sabrina Bogert, her husband Thomas, and a great-grandson Chase Matthew Bogert, Hazle Township; a sister Debra Urenovich, and her husband John, Drums; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Friday September 30, 2022 at 10:30 am from Harman Funeral Homes & Crematory Inc. (East), 669 W. Butler Drive, Drums. Burial will follow in Mt. View Cemetery, North Street, West Hazleton. Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday evening 5-8 pm.
