KALKASKA — Mabel I. Dingman Soule, 98, of Kalkaska, died on Friday at her home.
Mrs. Soule resided in Flint, Flushing, and Gaylord until 1952, when she and her husband moved to Kalkaska County where they owned and operated Dingmans Bar until 1965. She was a member of the Women's National Bear Hunt Association, and participated in many civic affairs including the erection of the National Trout Memorial and the construction of the Bear Lake Community Center. She was a former member of the Kalkaska Area Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed gardening and outdoor activities.
Born in East Tawas on March 25, 1902, she was the daughter of John and Ethel (Goodale) Martindale. She was married to Earl Dingman in 1920, and he preceded her in death in 1962, In 1965, she was united in marriage to Russel Soule who survives.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Gary (Susan) Hirt of Kalkaska, Barbara (Jack) Martin of Traverse City, Christine (Keith) Nash of Rapid City, and Rick (Susan) Hirt of Williamsburg; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret Hirt; an infant son; and her brothers and sisters.

Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 10, at the Wolfe Funeral Home in Kalkaska. Inurnment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Elk Rapids. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday, Feb. 10, from noon until the time of services.
