George was the son of Stephen Bartholf (1798-1878) and his first wife, Merial Rice (1803-1846). Merial appears not to be memorialized as yet.

Grandson of Stephanus Bertholf and Jannetje Post.

Husband of Elizabeth Bartholf, his first cousin whom he married July 28, 1861 in Walworth, Wisconsin. She was born 1830-1904.

Father of Maude M and Clarence, both born in Wisconsin.

George had been a resident of Perry, Shiawassee County, Michigan for 50 years, having been a pioneer moving there with his family from Wisconsin. He had been an active man until three months before his death. As a member of the Methodist Church, he sang in the choir for 25 years besides teaching a Sunday school class.
He passed away at the age of 86 years after an illness of a few weeks. At that time, Mr Bartholf was living with his daughter Miss Maude Bartholf.
