Herbert Zimmermann was a German radio reporter.

He is best known for his radio report on the final of the 1954 World Cup in Bern between the Federal Republic of Germany and Hungary. In 1937, he obtained his high school diploma from Freiburg im Breisgau. During World War II, he was an officer and tank commander in the Western Campaign and the German-Soviet War. His last rank was captain. He was awarded the Iron Cross first and second class in 1941 and the wounded badge in silver in 1942. After being seriously injured, he applied to the radio in Berlin and worked there for a time as a reporter. After the end of the Second World War, he began working for Nordwestdeutscher Rundfunk (NWDR), where he initially left water levels and later became a sports reporter. On the way to the interview with the DFB President on December 11, 1966, in Osnabrück, he had an accident in his Mercedes 220 SC. On a straight stretch and in good weather, he left the road. He suffered such serious injuries in the accident that he passed away a few days later in the Eppendorf University Hospital in Hamburg on December 16, 1966.
