CARNELL, Dennis J. - Of Flint, age 56, died Tuesday, April 19, 2005 at McLaren Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11AM Saturday, April 23, 2005 at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Pastor Bruce Garner officiating. Entombment at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children. Visitation 4-8PM Thursday, 11-2 and 4-8PM Friday at the funeral home. A memorial service will be conducted by Swartz Creek Lodge No. 458, F.& A.M. at 7PM Friday evening at the funeral home. Mr. Carnell was born in Flint, Michigan on May 30, 1948, the son of Allan E. and Maxine J. (Tackabury) Carnell. He was a graduate of Beecher High School and attended Ferris State University. He married Janet Hodson on June 13, 1970 in Flint. Mr. Carnell was deeply committed to the community he lived in and belonged to the following organizations: Elf Khurafeh Shrine Temple, Oasis Shrine Club, Sons of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Swartz Creek Lodge No. 458, F.& A.M., Carman-Ainsworth Hockey Boosters, and Deputy Sheriffs of Genesee County. He was an avid bowler with the Tuesday Men's House League at Colonial Lanes, an ardent golfer with the Flushing Lions Club, a passionate deer hunter, and skilled leather crafter for many years. Mr. Carnell retired from General Motors Corporation in 1988 as a Supervisor in Material Control at Buick City. He was a loving husband and a devoted father of 2 sons and a caring grandfather.
