Elizabeth Ann LaPanta was a 1979 graduate of Duluth East High School. She attended college at St Cloud State University and the University of Minnesota, where she earned an associate degree. She spent many years in Chicago, where she worked in the fine dining industry with many top chefs and someliers. In 2005 she met her husband -to-be on a sailing trip to the Greek Islands. They returned there the following year for their wedding and honeymoon.


Elizabeth loved to travel and planned and engineered trips to Greece, Hawaii, Jamaica, Florida, the Apostle Islands, the UP of Michigan as well as to her hometown of Duluth. Elizabeth was also a life-long music buff and loved to attend concerts and plays. She had a lifelong love of nature and for animals, especially for her childhood dog, Freddie.


Elizabeth was survived by her husband and two sisters .

It appears that Elizabeth continued to use her maiden name after her marriage. I have chosen to use her name the way it is inscribed on her headstone. Her last name, in her obituary, is shown as LaPanta. Not knowing if that is exactly how she spelled it, I have chosen to use the spelling her parents and siblings used, and as shown on her headstone.
