Officer Alleyn, along with three other CHP officers, was killed in a four-minute gun battle that has since been called "The Newhall Incident."

Officer Alleyn was 24 years old.
On August 11, 2006, the state of California named a portion of Interstate 5, between Rye Canyon Road and Magic Mountain Parkway, in Los Angeles County, the "California Highway Patrol Officers James E. Pence, Jr., Roger D. Gore, Walter C. Frago, and George M. Alleyn Memorial Highway."
Officer Alleyn's name can be found at the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial, in Washington, D.C., on Panel 15, W-11.
