James Elliott Wilcox, 38, Canton road, died at his father's residence on Montgomery Street Saturday morning, (2/9/1907). He had been ill since Thursday afternoon with pneumonia. The cause of death was a clot of blood on the heart. He is survived by a son (Allen James) and daughter (Hattie Marietta), twins, aged 12 years; father and mother; two brothers and three sisters, William C. Wilcox and John H. Wilcox, of Ogdensburg; Mrs. Clarence D. (Samantha)Tracy and Mrs. William B. (Anna) Raymond, of Massena, and Mrs. Alvin H. (Mary Elizabeth) Northrup, of Fort Dodge, Iowa. The funeral was held Monday at 2:30 p. m. from his father's residence on Montgomery Street.
Mr. Wilcox was well and favorably known. He was born in Lisbon on March 9, 1868 to William and Ellen Castle Wilcox. He moved with his parents in 1876 to near his late residence on Canton road, and for thirty years had resided in this immediate neighborhood. For a number of years he was a well-known milk vendor in this city.
He was educated in the Ogdensburg city schools and attended the Ogdensburg Free academy. About fifteen years ago he married Ella R. Goodenough, whose very recent death he sincerely mourned. He will be missed by his children, his family and a host of friends. By virtue of his sterling character he formed firm and lasting friendships. The sympathy of the community is extended to the family and friends who mourn his loss.
