Daniel and his siblings were all born in Austin, Texas, prior to the family moving to Holland, Michigan.
While attending school he was a member of the Track Team and was involved in the Knight and Varsity Clubs. Daniel graduated from West Ottawa High School with the Class of 1964.
Daniel enlisted in the Marines 18 November 1965, at a recruiting office in Detroit. After graduating from boot camp he was stationed at the Marine Barracks, USNS in Kodiak, Alaska from 13 April 1966 to 28 April 1967.
Daniel had already completed a tour in Vietnam. He went back for his second tour 15 April 1968
and was assigned to Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 26th Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division. While on a Seek & Destroy Operation, near Da Nang, Brave Company was ambushed at Cu Go Noi Island and 3 kilometers east of Liberty Bridge, during Operation Allen Brook. He was mortally wounded while administering first aid to a wounded Marine that he had carried out of danger.
Daniel was single and served his country for 2 years, 6 months and 11 days and had been in Vietnam for his second tour for 1 month and 14 days.
Daniel was 20 years, 1 month and 11 days old.
Survived by his parents, Cesario and Hermelinda "Linda" Arizmendez, two sisters, Rebecca and Carmen and brother, Larry of 160 Reed Avenue, Holland, Michigan.

He always said, "God first, Mother second, then the Marines."
Posthumously awarded the Silver Star Medal.
