Mary Justine (Aleshire) Botens and her husband came to Klamath County in 1910 from Colorado, a daughter was born to them and died shortly after. They went back to Ohio Their son Lewis F. Jr. was born and after two years they returned to Ohio to visit Mary's family. There Marianna and John were born. In 1918 they moved back to Klamath and Richard E., Marjorie Clara, and Effie Dora Botens were born on the ranch where Lewis was working.
In 1935 they bought the old Shell Place opposite of Weyerhaeuser Junction and built Mary's dream house. She died in 1943, followed by Lewis in 1946.
