Clara was the daughter of German immigrants, Henry & Sophia Hartmann, she came to California with her parents in 1910 from Illinois.

As a young girl, Clara was one of the famous Harvey Girl Waitresses in the early days of the old west. Working for the Santa Fe Railroad she first was employed at Needles, then Barstow Station and later the Harvey House in San Bernadino, where she met her husband Wallace Irvin Tindall who also worked for the Santa Fe Railroad as a Conductor. They were married Feb. 28, 1912 & had 2 daughters, Esta Clara Tindall (Scott) & Vera Fern Tindall (Pawson).
She was preceded in death by her daughter Vera Pawson in 1955 and husband Wallace in 1962.

In 1958 Clara was in the world famous "Gay Nineties Revue". Her family homesteaded land in Runnymead, California. Family stories say that Clara was instrumental in helping to rename Runnymead to "Tarzana" & she physically helped lay bricks for Tarzana's 1st elementary school and Public Library.

Memorial Services were held for Clara Ella Tindall, Saturday Feb. 4, 1978 at 11 am at the Emmerson Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Harold E Baker of Calimesa Community Church officiating.
Internment will be at Oakwood Park Cemetery, Chatsworth, Los Angeles, California and a fine lunch was served at the Scott home.
