H, 10th VT Infantry in Windsor, Vermont August 6, 1862 and was transferred to Co. D of the VRC Sept. 1, 1864 at Con Camp (sic), VA. He had suffered gun shot wounds to his right leg and right arm at Poolsville, MD in May 1863. He was mustered out of the Army on Nov. 4, 1865 at Washington, DC.
He was 5’8”, had a light complexion, gray eyes, gray hair, could read and write, was Catholic and his occupation was laborer. He was 59 years old, widowed and had been living at South Bend, Indiana prior to his admission to the soldier’s home on May 13, 1899. His nearest relatives listed on the soldiers home record were his son, Francis H. Colpoyes, 200 Knapp St., Minneapolis, MN; and Joseph L. Frayne at 1120 N. St. Louis St., South Bend, Indiana. He died Nov. 23, 1903 in the Marion Army Hospital. His personal possessions were sold at auction and he was buried at that time in Grave 909, Circle No. 7.
