A retired dispatcher for Harrell Gas and a resident and native of Baywood, she died at 1:18 a.m. Sunday, April 1, 2001, at Lane Memorial Hospital, Zachary. She was 83. Visiting at Charlet Funeral Home Inc., Zachary from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday. Religious services at Bluff Creek Baptist Church from 8:30 a.m. until religious services at 10 a.m. Tuesday, conducted by the Rev. Dwayne Rogers. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Faye Genola, Zachary; two nephews, J.T. Stevens and E.R. Smith Jr; a niece, Doris Leeds; four grandchildren, Tullie, Amie, Tiffany and Shane Genola; and two great-grandchildren, Weston and Alexis Genola. Preceded in death by her husband, John Walter Genola; parents, Tullie and Amelia Smith; a brother, Emmett R. Smith; and a sister, Mildred Stevens. Pallbearers will be Claude Smith, Darryl, Jim and Keith Stevens, Matt Price and Danny Bourgeois. Honorary pallbearers are Ira Cleveland and Mike Pierce.
