Our quiet little village was shocked on inst. Saturday by the sudden death of one of our most esteemed friends and neighbors, Mr. J.C. Morford. Mr. Morford has been ailing for some time but no one thought he was so poorly as to cause alarm, as he has been about on the streets and even walked from his home to the home of his daughter in another part of town just before dinner and ate a hearty meal and said he felt better, picked up the paper and laid down on the couch to read and passed away without a struggle. Heart failure the cause. Rev. F.P. Franklin, of Washington, Kas., preached the funeral sermon September 30th at 3 p.m.
