Born "Gertina Marie Ness" she was always known simply as "Tina". She was of Norweigian and Puerto Rican extraction. Tina was raised in Norwalk, California and as a young Catholic girl, had dreams of becoming a nun. She attended "St. John of God" Catholic School" on Pioneer Boulevard which was just a short walk down the street. At various times in her childhood, she had chickens, a horse, ducks and loved animals a great deal.

She blossomed in her teen years and in 1966 her favorite song was "Tell It Like it Is" by Aaron Neville. She knew all the teenage dance steps and wore the latest fashion trends. In 1967 her beloved mother Celeste contracted cancer and she did all she could to help her mother survive and became her caregiver... however, Celeste died at home and Tina was devastated.

Tina moved to the San Fernando Valley to be near her aunt Lucy and cousin Casey. Over the next few years she worked as a waitress, then at Magic Mountain, before getting a cashier job at Thrifty Drug Store in Saugus.

She rented a small apartment from a lady named Helen, who came to adore Tina. It wasn't long before Tina met Helen's son, Jim, who was a construction surveyor for CalTrans. They fell in love and were soon married. Tina was in line to become manager at the drug store but decided to move to Texas, where in-laws were from.

The family moved to the beautiful lone star state of Texas in 1977 and lived in Hearne, where Tina went to school to get a real estate license. She finished at the top of her class. Moving to Bryan/College Station, Tina started a surveying business with her husband in 1980. The business was highly successful and operates to this day.

She had many friends and loved to say "no coffee, no workie" as she was often seen with a large cup of coffee in her hand. She loved to laugh and if she liked what she heard from anyone, her typical response was to say "fan-tastic!"

Tina loved with tolerance and understanding and everyone who knew her came to love her. She traveled to Melbourne, Australia for a religious retreat when she was admitted to Wantirna Health Center and diagnosed with bladder cancer. It took her life very quickly. She was buried at Springvale Botanical Cemetery in Victoria, Australia.

She was survived by her beloved husband Jim, loving daughter Dianne, and darling grand daughter Olivia and many family members in the U.S.A. who love and dearly miss her to this day.

Note: Tina's grave remains unmarked presently, but a marker is being planned.
