The Gettysburg Times on April 5th, 1949 writes about the couples marriage
"50 Years Ago"
Zinn - Zeigler — April 2 at Abbottstown, by Rev. R. H. Clare, James C. Zinn of Hamilton township and Marie [sic = Maize] Zeigler of York County.
The family lived in Paradise Township, Pennsylvania, in a modest home on the corner across from the Spring Grove Senior High School, and Laughman's Grocery Store. James was farming and Maize was known for baking the best cookies in Spring Grove on her black cast iron woodstove for her grandchildren. When in his 90s, James would sit on a chair near the stove, prop his feet up, and wink at his wife as she baked cookies, and sometimes talk in Dutch to his grandchildren, although he was completely deaf. He died on November 10th, 1970, and Maize became very ill and never recovered. Maize later died on January 26th, 1973 in Colonial Valley Nursing Home located adjacent to the York Hospital, Pennsylvania.
Maize and James children are Samuel F. Zinn born April 1899, Susan P. Zinn born 1906, Anna Minerva Zinn born 1908 (married Maurice Jacob Herman), Mary C. Zinn born 1910, Grace R. Zinn born 1915 (her 1rst husband was Mr. Bucher), and Mammie Jane Zinn.
James parents were Alfred Zinn and Margaret Raffensperger. Grandparents were Jonas Zinn and Maria Clapper, and Daniel B. Raffensperger and Sarah J. Beard, all from Pennsylvania.
