COARSEGOLD - Retired educator David P. Day, 66, died at home on October 30.
Services will be Monday [November 5], 12:30 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oakhurst. Burial follows at Oakhill Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sierra Funeral Chapel.
Mr. Day was born in Aurora, Utah, on September 23, 1935. He was a teacher for Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District in Northern California before coming to Coarsegold a year ago.
Mr. Day was the husband of Martha Day of Coarsegold and the father of Nathan J. Day, Oakland; Denise Kersey, Rancho Cordova; Darlene Chambers, Seattle, Washington; and Deanna Ashby, Twin Falls, Idaho.
He was the brother of Virginia Hayes, Provo, Utah; Kathleen Bartholomew, Fayette, Utah; Fred R. Day, St. George, Utah; and J. Rodney Day, Orem, Utah.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren.
David was an educator. He earned a Bachelors of Science and a Masters Degree from Brigham Young University. He was a teacher for Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District in Northern California before he moved to Coarsegold in 2000.
