OVID - Dec. 28 - Elmer Varco was born near Burton October 10, 1885 and died Monday evening at his home near Burton at the age of 55 years 2 months and 13 days. He was ill about a week, death being caused by a kidney infection.


He was the son of Joseph and Jennie Varco. On May 19, 1906, he was united in marriage to Miss Jennie Decker. To this union four children were born.


He leaves the widow, Jennie; three daughters, Mrs. Vera Vencient, and Mrs. Edna Marks, both of near Carland, Mrs. Josephine Redman of Burton; one son, Robert at home; four brothers, Charles of Lapeer, William of Owosso, Elva and Joseph both of Oregon; two sisters, Mrs. Bertha Williams and Mrs. Blanch Purvis, both of Owosso; 10 grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends.


The body was removed to the Houghton Funeral Home in Ovid where funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Burton church, the Rev. Mr. G B Evans of Hartland officiating. Interment was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
