Doris Hill, known as "Do," was born July 19, 1936, in Escanaba, the daughter of Toivo and Hilma (Salo) Hill and was raised in the Rock area. She resided most of her life in Rock and was a graduate of the Gwinn High School.
She married Howard A. Aalto July 11, 1955 in Gwinn and he survived her.
Doris's family was all important to her and her family considered her a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Despite her illnesses, she always enjoyed keeping busy and took pleasure in gardening, crocheting, crafts, and she was known as a talented seamstress. Doris also loved canvass oil-painting, particularly mountain scenes and she was an avid stamp and coin collector as well. In addition, she had a fondness for the outdoors, which included hunting.

In addition to her mother, Hilma Salo Hill, Doris Aalto was preceded in death by two sisters, Darlene Ahlgren and Linda Jokela, an infant brother, Vern Allen Hill, and by a brother, Vern Charles Hill.
