Erhardt Duffner was born in Baden Germany in March 1872, the son of Erhardt Duffner and Angelica Heitzer. He arrived in the US on August 29, 1889 and was naturalized in 1894. He worked as a moulder in a foundry.

Erhardt married Catherine Martz on November 27, 1901 in Syracuse NY.

Following their marriage, Catherine and Erhardt lived for a time on the Wagner farm and on Park Street in the Liverpool area. Their daughter Marie was born at the Wagner Farm home.

Erhardt was injured while working at his job and suffered a head injury that caused him frequent "spells" during which he would spend time in the state hospital in Oneida NY (Marcy Hospital). It was there that he died May 15, 1945 from arteriosclerosis.
