Emma Garrison was the daughter of John Ulrick Koller from Switzerland and Mary Ann Holst from Elbing, Germany. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Herbert, and was survived by her husband, Ira Valdora Garrison, Sr., a Southern Baptist minister, and three children, Ira, Jr., Evelyn Joyce, and Dorothy Nell.

Her husband Ira is buried beside her, but he also has a cenotaph marker in Bandera Cemetery where his second wife Lila is interred.
