Harriett E. (Anthony) Keplar was born March 4, 1866, near Croton, Lee County, Iowa. She was the daughter of William Penn Anthony and Mary (Frye) Anthony. Harriett was referred to as "Hattie" by her family. She married Benjamin J. Kepler in 1883 and the couple made their home in Farmington, Iowa, where they raised a family of three sons and four daughters. Hattie died July 16, 1923, and was buried in Farmington Cemetery.
