Eugene was the son of William and Mary Alex and a Native American as a member of the Creek Tribe. Per the 1940 census, Eugene was living in Pawhuska City, Osage, Oklahoma, with wife Pearl and son Alvin. He enlisted in the Army at Tulsa, Oklahoma on September 30, 1942. Some time before 1950, Eugene relocated to southern California.

Eugene Alex has proven to be a research challenge. It is my sincere hope that a descendant will come along and help me update his memorial.
