Laura Kilborn Hungerford, the daughter of Samuel Hungerford and Abigail Kilbourne Hungerford, was born 5 December 1813 in Canada. She married James Montague 3 September 1833 and they resided in Westminster, Middlesex County, Ontario, until their move to Vergennes Township, Kent County, Michigan, sometime between 1838 and 1840. In March of 1855 she and her children except for the eldest son moved to Mecosta County, Michigan, to the homestead in what was to become Green Township. There she died December 5, 1870, of typhoid fever. She and James had eleven children.
