David A. "Duke" VanWey, 60, of Albin died Feb. 2 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center.
He was born Dec. 1, 1942, in Grand Island, Neb., and had lived in Albin for a year with prior residence in Grand Island.
Mr. VanWey was a painter.
He is survived by his wife, Elona VanWey; three sons, David VanWey of Cheyenne, Donald VanWey of Wheatland and Dustin VanWey of Albin; three daughters, Allie VanWey of Albin, Ann VanWey of Wheatland and Natasha VanWey of Adel, Ga.; his mother, Iola Warnke of St. Paul, Neb.; three stepbrothers, Glenn West, Gerald Ray West and George Leo West, all of Grand Island; two sisters, Judy Anderson of Albin and Leola Cane of Sacramento, Calif.; two stepsisters, Geraldine Kay Mason of Davenport, Iowa, and Shanda Wallace of Grand Island; 12 grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; two aunts; and an uncle.
He was preceded in death by his father, Donald VanWey; and a brother, Michael VanWey.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Albin Community Center with the Rev. Delbert Hansen officiating.
Interment will be in the Albin Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be David VanWey III, Shawn VanWey, Darren Hamilton, Robbie Grandpre, Scott Coverdale and Junior Tobar.
