Rev. Andrew Jackson Motley was the son of James Reiligh Motley and Mary Jane [Willingham] Motley. He married Ora Mae [Thrash] Motley in 1902 in Pike County, Arkansas. Andrew and Ora had six children: Beulah Mae [Motley] Lawler; Thomas Watson Motley; Lola Marie [Motley] Britton; Iva Mae "Billie" [Motley] Bush-Gaultney-Mead; Juanita Molly [Motley] Becchetti, and Ina Faye [Motley] Jackson-Abdo-Reynolds. Rev. Andrew Jackson Motley was an ordained Baptist preacher, preaching mainly in Hubbard, Hill County, Texas and the surrounding towns and communities. Andrew died from a gunshot wound to his head by his son-in-law, William S. "Bill" Lawler of Dawson, Texas.
Andrew is buried near his parents in an unmarked grave in the Delia Cemetery in Delia, Limestone County, Texas.
