David resided on the old Annis homestead that his grandfather, Charles, had started in 1793. David lost his wife at an early age and never remarried. Upon the land that David owned was built the first Methodist church of Scarbourough, opposite his large brick home. David, his wife Annie, and sons George and Albert are buried in the Washington Church cemetery.
