Oskaloosa Saturday Globe (Oskaloosa, Iowa) 1919
Mrs. Julia Simmons, a former resident of Lacey, departed this life at her home in Chicago, Monday Morning, May 12th. The remains were taken to New Sharon and interred by the side of her husband who preceded her some years before. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church on Friday, May 16. Her son, Clyde Simmons, who lives in Oklahoma, came and went to New Sharon and made the necessary arrangements. The body was accompanied by two daughters, Miss Blanche Simmons, a teacher in Chicago, and Mrs. Gertrude Everhart, of New York. Another son, Elroy, went to Chicago, but did not come here. A daughter, Mrs. Kate Mattison, who lives in California, did not come. The Simmons family lived in Lacey a number of years and their many friends extend much sympathy to the children in the loss of their loving mother.
