Rev. Dr.Edwin A. Adams-Monday,April 11,1927-Boston Herald(Boston,Massachusetts)
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 P.M. at the home for the Rev. Dr. Edwin A. Adams, who died Friday at his home in Plimptonville,Walpole. He was 89 years old.
Dr. Adams was born at Medway,Oct. 21,1837. He was graduated from Amherst college in 1861 and was the last surviving member of his class. He continued his studies at Union College and was graduated from Andover Theological Seminary.
His first pastorate was at the Congregational church of North Manchester, CT. He spent 10 years in Prague,Bohemia, as a representative of the American Board of Foreign Missions. Upon his return to America, he accepted the pastorship of the Bethlehem Congregational Church of Chicago(Bohemian) which he held for 39 years.
He married Carolin A. Plimpton,daughter of Calvin and Priscilla Plimpton of Wadpole.
He is survived by five children: Miss Rebecca E. Adams: Mrs. Annie Harper,wife of Prof. Eugene H. Harper: Miss Elizabeth Adams, professor at Olivet College: Miss Kathryn Adams, president of the Canstantinopole College for Women: Prof. Edwin P. Adams of Princeton: and Prof. George P. Adams of the University of California.
