John Ashley's (Berkshire) Regiment by order of General Gates joining his army on the 19th Sept 1777 and became a part of the right Wing Army, this Army commanded by General Lincoln. He did not participate in the action of the 7th of Oct. following, however he did engage in the skrimishing of the day following (the 8th) preceding their retreat of the British Army the night of the 8th.
