Acta E. Butts, 83, formerly of Harris Courts, died Sunday morning at Country Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation Centre, Carthage, where she had been a resident since August.
Mrs. Butts worked at the Carbola Chemical Co. mine, Natural Bridge, and also at St. Lawrence National Bank.
Born Feb. 23, 1925, in Harrisville, daughter of Auldis and Cora LaPlatney, she graduated from Harrisville Central School and the Watertown School of Commerce.

She married Frederick E. Butts on Nov. 27, 1953, at Harrisville Methodist Church with the Rev. A. Howard Gabriel officiating.

Mr. Butts, owner and operator of Butts Construction, died May 16, 2005.

Mrs. Butts was a member of Harrisville United Methodist Women, the Adirondack Grange and the Order of the Eastern Star.

She enjoyed knitting and "running the roads."

Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Sandra B. and Thomas H. Stowell, Gouverneur; a son and his wife, Garry M. and Valerie A., Harrisville; a daughter-in-law, Kim Maine; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and two nieces.

A son, Larry F. Butts, died March 3, 1992.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Harrisville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Frances K. Hemstreet, pastor, officiating.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Bossuot-Lundy Funeral Home, 133 State St.

Donations may be made to Harrisville United Methodist Church or a charity of one's choice."
