Son of Jay and Bessie Edwards, born in Mapleton, but grew up in Ida Grove, graduated in 1926. Operated an airport and ran a tavern in Bethany, Missouri.

Died in a race car accident at Bethany, Missouri in 1957.Gail was born at Mapleton on Sept. 16, 1907, being the oldest child of the late Mr and Mrs Jay Edwards. He was an aviator, often flying his plane here. For 20 years Mr. Edwards was a racing car driver and was killed in a sprint car accident at Bethany, Mo., on Sept. 5 when his car went out of control and turned over.
Funeral service were held at the Fitzpatrick funeral home on 09/08/1957, with Reverand Earl Kurtz officiating.
