Martha Sophia Schultz, 98, of Buchanan, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2009 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, St. Joseph.

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, March 17 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Baroda with the Rev. Kenneth S. Babcock officiating. Burial will be in Ruggles Cemetery, Baroda. Friends may meet with the family from 6-8 PM Monday at Pike Funeral Home, Boyd Chapel, 9191 Red Arrow Hwy., Bridgman. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be given to St. John's Lutheran Church.

Martha was born February 6, 1911 in Baroda the daughter of the late Carl and Ernestine (Till) Nitz. On September 14, 1935 she married Nelson L. Schultz and he preceded her in death on March 13, 1994. Martha loved working on the family farm. She also loved gardening, working in her flowers and spending time in the vineyards. Time spent with her family and grandchildren was very special to her. She enjoyed fishing while on vacation. Martha was a charter member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Baroda and she loved her church.

Survivors include three children – David (Joyce) Schultz of Niles, Daniel (Mellierose) Schultz of Buchanan, and Karen (Kenneth) Seifert of Three Oaks; nine grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.

Martha was also preceded in death by eight brothers and two sisters.
