Literary Figure. The son of author and globetrotting journalist John Gunther, he was born in Paris. He was a brilliant student at Deerfield Academy in Massachusetts and corresponded with Albert Einstein about physics. His death at 17 from brain cancer was the subject of his father's classic memoir "Death Be Not Proud" (1949), which is still in print today. It was made into a 1975 TV movie starring Arthur Hill and Robbie Benson as father and son.
