On 9 January 1897 in Eckman, McDowell County, West Virginia, Nora Caldwell married Samuel Eurye Ferree, a coal miner who was the son of Jacob Ferree and Amanda Mumma of Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. Nora and Samuel Ferree had 4 daughters before his early death from a ruptured appendix. Their youngest daughter, Sammie, was born after her father's death and named for him.Their other daughters in birth order were Hazel, Ola, and Irene.
Nora then married Alceberry Madison Wade, a detective with the notorious Baldwin-Felts Agency. They married 20 June 1911 in Welch, West Virginia. They had one daughter, Ethel Felts Wade, before the marriage ended. Nora reared her daughters alone, working at whatever job she could find. A non-smoker, she died in Bluefield, West Virginia of lung cancer.
