Mary J. Cox

Mary J. Cox, 87, of Greenfield died early Wednesday, June 24, 1992, at Passavant Area Hospital.

She was born July 26, 1904, in Booneville, MO., the daughter of John and Anna Mae Newell Baze. She married Wilber J. Cox on Jan. 24, 1923, in Jacksonville. He died in 1974.

She is survived by two sons, Paul L. and Gary G. both of Greenfield; two daughters, Mary Ruth Pedigo of New Berlin and Rita G. Plogger of Greenfield; two foster sons, Steve Maxvill of Virginia Beach, VA., and David Horn of Gatlinburg, TN.; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren' one brother, Charlie Baze of Alton; and one sister, Jewel Tooley of Decatur.

She was preceded in death by one son, Wilber Cox, Jr.; one foster son, James Horn; two brothers, Ollie and John Baze; and three sisters, Minnie Grayson, Bertha Shafer and Velma Patton.

Mrs. Cox belonged to the Baptist church all her life. Her hobbies included flower gardening and sewing.

Visitation was 5-8 p.m. Friday at Shields Memorial Home in Greenfield. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Charity Southern Baptist Church in Greenfield with Rev. Ratts officiating. Mrs. Eugene Ratts accompanied Mrs. William R. Lansaw and Mrs. Robert Pembrook, vocalists.

Pallbearers were all grandsons: Larry, Danny, David, Rick, and Brian Cox; Randy, Jerry, Kenny and Denny Pedigo; Shawn Cox, Bill Goode and Eric Maxville.

Burial was at Pine Tree Cemetery in Patterson.
