Harry E. Starner, 86, of Mountain View Manor, Allentown, died Monday in Lehigh Valley Hospital Center. He was the husband of the late Arvilla (Keiper) Starner.

Starner worked in the cashier's office at Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 33 years before retiring in 1971. He was also a schoolteacher for the Pocono Lake consolidated schools.

Born in Reeders, he was a son of the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Storm) Starner.

He was a member of Olivet Evangelical Congregational Church, Bethlehem, and a former assistant pastor of First Baptist Church, Bethlehem. He was a graduate of East Stroudsburg College and the former Bethlehem Business College.

Survivors: Sons, Mark of Allentown and Eugene of Cherry Hill, N.J.; daughters, Mary Vanderwal of Kirkland, Wash., and Nancy Spiegel of Lebanon, N.J.; brothers, Donald of Wilkes-Barre and Levere of Blakeslee; sister, Ella Housenick of Bethlehem; four grandchildren and a great-grandson. A son Paul died in 1987.
