Tipton County Tribune, Tipton, Indiana - Thursday, February 14, 1974:
Thurman A. James, 62, of North East Street in Tipton, died suddenly as his home on Wednesday. His death was attributed to a heart attack. It was unexpected although he had been ill two months.
He was born September 7, 1911 in Missouri, the son of Lark and Katie James. On October 31, 1958, he married JoAnn Rains Alumbaugh. Mr. James had been employed by Steel Parts Corp. and was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving in addition to the widow are a son, Stephen Douglas Alumbaugh of Tipton; two daughters, Mrs. Joy Lee Brown of Paragould, Arkansas, and Mrs. Pamela Pops of Fortuna, North Dakota; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a brother and sister living in Missouri.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Young-Nichols Funeral Home with Rev. Elmore Ryle officiating. Burial will follow in Albright Cemetery near Kokomo. Friends may call at the funeral home after noon Friday.
