Mildred D. Lamoreaux, known as "Milly" Lamoreaux, age 85, of Simmons Settlement, Michigan passed into eternal life peacefully at the home of her daughter, Karen Spencer in Pickford, Michigan on Monday, April 20, 2009.

The former Mildred Augustson was born February 11, 1924 in Republic, Michigan, the daughter of Donald August Augustson and Hilma Dagmar (Hill) Augustson. Mildred grew up across the Upper Peninsula of Michigan while her parents worked in logging camps. She graduated from Cedarville High School.

On July 13, 1944, Milly Augustson married Gilbert Wayne Lamoreaux in Wayne County, Michigan just before he went overseas while serving in the United States Army. Upon his return, they made their home in Simmons Settlement, Michigan. Mildred helped operate the family farm and raised their children while Gilbert worked throughout Michigan. Mildred was a member of the Les Cheneaux Baptist Church and the North Hills Baptist Church, and taught Sunday School in the Simmons Settlement while her children were growing up. Mildred was an avid reader with her favorite book being the Bible. She also enjoyed singing and playing her guitar and the family spent many evenings singing together. She also liked both vegetable and flower gardening.

Mildred Lamoreaux was survived by three daughters, Karen Spencer of Pickford, Elizabeth "Betsi" (Gerald) Fowler of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, and Wanda Lamoreaux of Portage, Michigan; two sons, Stephen (Tami) Lamoreaux of Selma, California, and Floyd (Karen) Lamoreaux of Simmons Settlement; ten grandchildren, Christopher Lamoreaux, Steven Spencer, Ethan Lamoreaux, Matthew (Mandy) Lamoreaux, Esther (Adam) Hamer, Anna (Kyle) Lansdell, Paul Fowler, Sarah (Scott) Barr, Benjamin (Becky) Perkins, and Jeremy (Monica) Perkins; and twenty four great grandchildren, Chrystolyn, Samantha, and Skylar Lamoreaux, Chelsea, Kelsea, Kayla, and Dylan Spencer, Davin Smith, Seth and Ivy Lamoreaux, Noah and Naomi Hamer, Bayleigh, Madison, and Shiloh Lansdell, KeighArrah Fowler, Alexis, MacKenzie and Cassidy Barr, Caleb, Destiny, Breanna, Alicia, and Alison Perkins. Also surviving is one brother, Wesley (Delores) Augustson of Rudyard, Michigan.

Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Wayne Lamoreaux; one sister, Betty Black; two brothers, Wilfred Augustson and Rudy Augustson; and four grandsons, Joe Spencer, Jeff Spencer, Billy Spencer, and Jonathan Lamoreaux.
