Orrin was bound out to learn the trade of carpenter when he was a boy. He went to Wisconsin and helped build a mill. On his returned to Michigan, his feet froze interfering with his work as a carpenter. He then learned the tailoring trade and worked in Royal Oak, Farmers Creek, Orion, Oakwood and Brandon, Michigan. Orrin was also a farmer for a time. He returned to Oakwood and died there.
