Gale Earl Polly, 88, Whiting, Iowa, formerly of Sloan, Iowa, died Friday, February 15, 2002, at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

He was born November 4, 1913, at Albaton, Iowa the son of Earl and Mabel (Peterson) Polly. He graduated from Sloan High School. On November 28, 1935, he married Alfreda Carlson at Lincoln, Nebraska. After their marriage, they lived in Mapleton, Atlantic, Adron and in Council Bluffs from 1960 to 1979 when they moved back to Sloan. He was a farmer, owned and operated the Polly Farm Service in Sloan, and retired at age 62 from Sioux Tools in Sioux City.

He was a member of Evangelical Covenant Church in Sloan.

Survivors include his son, Bruce A. Polly of Arnett, Oklahoma; three granddaughters, Rebecca Ann Peters of Arnett, Oklahoma, Gayle Attaway of Woodbury, Oregon and Karen Amy Wiford of Asotin, Washington; one grandson, Brad A. Polly with the U.S. Navy in Fallon, Nevada; seven great-grandchildren; one brother-in-law, Norman Nelson of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters-in-law, Viola Anderson of Sioux City, Iowa and Ruth Carlson of California and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Alfreda; two brothers, Gordon and Joy and a sister, Priscilla.

Memorial services were held Wednesday, February 20, 2002, at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Sloan, Iowa, with Rev. Richard Moore officiating. Interment was in Fairview Cemetery at Albaton, Iowa.
