Vella Sterling, 78, of Midland, died Monday, Dec. 25, at the Town and Country Nursing Home. Born in Edmore on March 25, 1894, she had taught school in Gladwin County for several years. Mrs. Sterling was an honorary member of the Dale-Billings Ladies Aid and a member of Trinity Wesleyan Church, Midland. The former Vella Euper, she was married to Roy Sterling on Dec. 24, 1912. He preceded her in death on Oct. 13, 1953.
Surviving are two daughters, Arlou Cerva and Marion Gingrich, both of Midland; one sister, Thelma Press of Flint; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. One son preceded her in death in 1966.
Rites were held Thursday, Dec. 28, at 1 p.m. from the Miner-Bradley Funeral Home, Midland. The Rev. Elra Key officiated and burial was in the Dale Cemetery. Gladwin County Record dated 01-03/1973 Column - 4 Page - 1
