SOUTH PORTLAND, MAINE
Mrs. Anna Leigh Robbins, age 79, of 373 Broadway, died Sunday night in a local nursing home after a long illness. Anna Leigh was born in Leicester, England, Oct. 13, 1879, daughter of John and Sarah Irwin. Her mother died when she was a child and her father came to this country with her and a sister, Margaret. After her marriage in 1906 to George W. Robbins, they lived for a time in Norway and Lewiston.
They moved to Portland in 1910 where they lived until Mr. Robbins died in 1940. Mrs. Robbins was active as a vocalist with the choirs of St. Alban's Church, Cape Elizabeth, and the First Universalist Church, Portland.
She is survived by two sons, George E. Robbins, Norfolk, Va. and Erwin L. Robbins, South Portland, a daughter, Mrs. Beatrice Robbins Patterson, South Portland; three half-brothers, Col. George Erwin, Delray Beach, Fla., Lionel Erwin, Roanoke, Va., and William Erwin, Concord, N.H.; a stepson, Reuel J. Robbins, Steep Falls, seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Anna Leigh Irwin was born in Petticroft, England. She was the second wife of George Wells Robbins. Her husband, George Wells Robbins was born Aug. 27, 1868 in Auburn, ME and died June, 1940 in Portland, ME. He is buried in Nashua, NH.
