USMA Class of 1948, First Lieutenant Ross, initially, with 29th Infantry Regimental Combat Team.

He was seriously wounded near Hadong, South Korea on July 27, 1950 and returned to duty on September 18, 1950.

He was transferred to the 27th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division and was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in North Korea on November 6, 1950.

For his leadership and valor, First Lieutenant Ross was awarded the Silver Star, the Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
